@Mtt Thank you so much for the kind words! ๐๐ It turned out rather nice, I dig it. Maybe this will even inspire writing for the blog, something that I've failed to do properly in years! ๐

@Mtt Ping and pong! Finally managed to publish something new with the new theme in place: juhaliikala.com/2023/06/0... ๐ Cheers!
-
@numericcitizen I have the background image defined in CSS for the body element. See here. The image itself I have stored in my theme theme files, but the URL could also point to any other place, some Unsplash image for example ๐

@Mtt That would be sweet, thank you! Yeah, the tweaking never stops I bet.. but at least stabilizes at some point, heh! ๐ Will write a proper post about the "basic setup", once I have all the main bits and pieces ready for action. Can ping back then! ๐

@Mtt Thank you Matt! ๐๐ And thanks for making Tiny! Immediately fell in love with it once I tried it. Just wanted to tinker around and change places of the "furniture" here and there. Still not quite finished, but getting there! ๐

@juhaliikala Testing micro.blog integration with Mastodon with this comment.
-
@juha Now it appeared, so some 30-45 minute delay there it seems. But still picking up the post content from sidebar.. oh well, will investigate later what's going on. ๐คทโโ๏ธ

@juha Substack must have some strange caching too in their reader, as all my other RSS readers saw the previous post immediately, Substack still haven't picked it up. Let's see if it ever will.. strange!

@manton Thank you for the quick fix! Posts show now as intended and cross-posts came through as well ๐๐
-
@manton Ah ok, no worries! Looking forward to this! ๐๐
-
@manton These look great! Were there topics for day one somewhere on the site? I didn't manage to find those ๐
-
@matt This is exciting news! And funny even, as I recall asking Mosseri in his Instagram AMA about the possibility of ActivityPub support in the near future. Didn't get a response (not surprisingly), but I guess they have been looking into this direction for some time now. Cool! :D
-
@manton That's a while ago! I recall writing my first post back in 2004. Warm memories from those early days of blogging :)
-
@manton This is soooo cool! Thank you for making this possible Manton! ๐๐

@manton I had to check the calendar to make sure it's not an April fools' day. I would understand if it was a one-off fee for getting verified, but a monthly subscription service, really? I also wonder if this affects engagement/ reach for those who don't subscribe ๐คฏ
-
@manton Ah, "catched" it right on time then! ๐๐

@Munish Winter escapes to tropics :D Yeah, it's dark outside when workday starts and it's dark when it ends, but one gets used to it eventually. Quite a few colleagues have those daylight therapy lamps which seem to help a bit at least. :)
-
@jemostrom True! I actually remember that phrase from my grandmother's toilet room heater :D
-
@odd @jemostrom Ah, I didn't think of that! Then it's indeed correct. Radiators / heaters have that label / sticker on them often. :)
-
@jemostrom Well, I believe my Swedish is probably in same state if not worse. It's been 20 years since I last time wrote or spoke a word in that regard :D (btw, not 100% sure what you meant by "ei saa peittรครค", what was that in english version?)
-
@jeroensangers Well said. Yeah, there are some pro's to separating the posts to different blogs via language, but then again, I also fear it might create too much friction to the writing process itself. Keeping everything in one place feels "better" I think :) Thanks for the good feedback!
-
@jemostrom Yeah, I'm starting to lean more in the direction of just posting both language posts on the same micro blog. I used to have that mixed approach on Twitter and it worked ok. :)

@maique Thank you! Would take those warm breezes gladly! ๐ Enjoy the weather there!
-
@maique Oh how I miss the poolside right now. Yesterday was a chilly -22 Celcius, today a bit warmer.. but my old bones sure would need some warm and vitamin D! ๐
-
@maique Agreed! There's also this same kind of community feel that blogs used to have (around them) in the early 2000's. Love it! ๐
